A mixture of unknown feldspar and Grolleg body stained with Mason stain, molded as a slip in a styrofoam meat tray, accidentally snapped in half (this material is very brittle) and pasted back together. The result is a candy dish made entirely of donated materials and other things headed for the trash bin.
I'm very excited about this new body of work I've started at Lillstreet. Utilizing the skills I developed last year at Medalta and influenced by life in Chicago, the byproducts of consumerism, individual understanding of objects of good taste, and the perpetual question of what a functional object can be, I am creating a line of utilitarian sculptures meant to control the way the user interacts with the piece and how the object is used in a domestic space.
